Would a returning World War II veteran have bought a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline Aerosedan?
Does that seem to be a vehicle they would have chosen? What vehicle was most commonly bought by WW2 Veterans (right after or shortly following WW2).
Yes I know that, thing is though not everyone bought cars afterward, also notice I said following World War II or after it. If you’re going to troll me try harder.
PS the 1946 production year started in late 1945 betcha didn’t know that.
Check your history. The war ended in 1945. The first year of increased production of civilian vehicles was 1946.

There were 276,078 Chevrolet Fleetlines manufactured in 1948. Obviously, someone was buying them. Here’s a good article on post war auto production…

For Maya, Will relives his past as a idealistic young man learning the ins and outs of big city politics, and recounts the history of his romantic relationships with three very different women. On the campaign, Will’s best buddy is Russell McCormack. They not only have similar political aspirations, they share the same type of girl problems, too. Will hopelessly attempts a “PG” version of his story for his daughter ad changes the names so Maya has to guess who he finally married. Is her mother Will’s college sweetheart, the dependable girl next-door Emily? Is she his longtime best friend and confidante, he apolitical April? Or is she the free-spirited but ambitious journalist? As Maya puts together the pieces of her dad’s romantic puzzle, she begins to understand that love is not so simple or easy. And as Will tells her his tale, Maya helps him to understand that it’s definitely never too late to go back…and maybe even possible to find a happy ending. |

How do I stop this from making me upset?
This guy who works at my job on the weekends asked me for my # last summer. For about 2 wks, we exchanged text msgs but he never actually called me or asked me out anywhere. He invited me over to his house a few times to watch movies, which lead to kissing and nothing more.
Once I realized this guy was never going to make an effort to get to know me, I stopped responding to his text msgs and would only say hello at work if he said it first. The last text I got from him was maybe 2 wks ago, asking what I was doing, and of course it was late at night.
Every once in a while, I’ll go have dinner and drinks with a few girls I work with. Just this past weekend, we all went out and one of the girls I talk to most told me that this guy had been texting her ever since she changed her status on FB, and the guy is the same dude from work. She said he’d text her, "good morning" and "good night" which is what he did when he first started to text me.
I’m not jealous at all; this girl is really sweet and we’re not super close but I’d definitely consider her a good friend. I’m not going to say anything because I just feel like it’s not my place, but I do feel like he’s trying to take advantage of her recent breakup. I feel used even though we never went further than kissing.
Should I continue to say hello if he says it first? How do I brush this d-bag off and not let it upset me?
have nothing more to do with him. also - as her friend, its your duty to tell him if shes about to fall for a guy like that. What happens when he hurts her, and she tells you, and you’re like ‘oh i know’. She’ll feel betrayed you didn’t tell her
at least if you say something anything that happens is her fault not yours
sunshineprincess | Feb 08, 2010
Sure, continue to say hello because it’s the polite thing to do. No need to let this escalate into awkwardness in the workplace.
As for his texts, you can pretty much block him out from now on, since it’s clear you don’t like him. If he brings it up with you tell him you’re not interested in picking up the kind of relationship you had before. No need to confront him about what he’s doing, since he’s technically done nothing wrong. Maybe he just really likes your friend and was waiting for the right moment.
And on the other hand, you can alert your friend to what you think is going on. Since you consider her a good friend and seem like you like her more than the guy, let her know you’re concerned.
soliue | Feb 08, 2010
You can do better than this guy. And you’re right, he does sound like a douche bag! I think it’s probably best to pretend as if nothing’s happened.
You should have more confidence in yourself. I know I am probably the same because I am in a similar situation. Don’t let this ass treat you badly.
I think you should maybe tell your friend how he treated you, but of course she can do what she wants.

Have you ever noticed how much Black Comedy is in Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory?
I’m talking about the classic film with GENE WILDER, not the newer one.
That whole scene where Willy Wonka seems to push Augustus Gloop into the Chocolate River (comedically timed so that it is hard to tell whether Gloop just falls in himself or whether Wonka pushes him in). Willy Wonka them seems to enjoy the suspense of watching him die. Watch just this one scene - and you will see what I am talking about Black Comedy here. Classic.
The whole factory seems to be a series of death traps that Wonka is luring society that he hates so much into; to die. Of course, not for real - because Wonka is ONLY the dreamer of dreams. But this is an amazing satire on society - teachers, kids, greedy businemen, and all of us actually if you think about it.
MQ: Do you like ‘We Are The Music Makers’ by Apex Twin?
That’s Aphex Twin. I mispelled the name above.
I would say it’s not just the movie, but that most things written by Roald Dahl have black comedy in, and that one is definitely a satire of society as well, particularly with the different types of kids and their parents. It was Dahl’s style to write about people-hating.
My favourite of his stories would be either George’s Marvellous Medicine (full of revenge on spiteful grandma comedy) or The Landlady (about a landlady taxidermist who kills and stuffs ANYthing).

IMDB rating: 8.10 Plot: The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore the Imperial Japanese Army is desperate to prevent it from falling into American hands and providing a launching point for an invasion of Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi is given command of the forces on the island and sets out to prepare for the imminent attack. General Kuribayashi, however, does not favor the rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and resentment and resistance fester among his staff. In the lower echelons, a young soldier, Saigo, a poor baker in civilian life, strives with his friends to survive the harsh regime of the Japanese army itself, all the while knowing that a fierce battle looms. When the American invasion begins, both Kuribayashi and Saigo find strength, honor, courage, and horrors beyond imagination. |
